Moving to San Antonio in 2009, Dr. Root began private practice at Alamo Mental Health Group until choosing to relocate his practice to Stone Oak in 2011. Dr. Root enjoys the richness of life in San Antonio as well as the diversity of opportunities offered in Texas.

Affiliated with Methodist Hospital, Dr. Root offers a comprehensive medical treatment plan for his patients. Conveniently located in the Stone Oak area, the office is close to home or work.
Education:
After receiving his M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and spending many years working as an executive for companies such as Ford Motor Company, Frito-Lay, and Mission Foods, Walter decided to become a physician. Graduating from the prestigious University of California San Diego Medical School, Dr. Root completed his residency in Psychiatry at the Southwestern School of Medicine (Parkland Hospital in Dallas) and John Peters Smith Hospital of Fort Worth.
